The Coldest Journey crew takes MK Electric to the Antarctic
MK Electric has taken British manufacturing to new extremes as part of The Coldest Journey, the world’s first ever trans-Antarctic winter traverse.
Following the successful arrival of The Coldest Journey expedition’s ship, the SA Agulhas, in Antarctica last month, the team is making use of wiring devices donated from MK Electric’s Logic Plus range, as well as the Sentry range of circuit protection consumer units and Prestige 3D cable management.Of MK Electric’s products, expedition co-leader Sir Ranulph Fiennes – who himself was recently forced to leave the expedition owing to frostbite – expressed his enthusiasm for the support of a British manufacturer in this latest triumph of human endeavour. First used by Sir Ranulph on his Transglobe Expedition in 1977, MK Electric has been deeply involved in providing the wiring devices and accessories critical to the success of his expeditions for over the past 30 years.

Setting sail from London on 6th December 2012, and arriving at the Antarctic in January this year, The Coldest Journey is preparing to begin its traverse from the coast to the Geographic South Pole. During this time the team will travel 4,000km in complete darkness whilst withstanding temperatures as low as -90°C.
