Following extensive product and installation testing at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart, Germany, the Altis G5 floodlight from luminaire manufacturer and supplier Thorn Lighting has been recognised under the FIFA Quality Programme for Floodlights.
The Altis range, first introduced in 2013, has been installed in stadiums worldwide and continues to evolve to meet the requirements of professional sport.
The fifth-generation system now carries the FIFA Quality Pro mark, which is awarded to floodlighting systems that meet international standards for performance, safety, and reliability.
FIFA Quality Programme for floodlights
FIFA’s Quality Programme provides guidance to stadium owners and competition organisers by establishing a global testing standard for floodlight systems.
To qualify for the FIFA Quality Pro mark, products undergo laboratory testing and installation validation, with a focus on player performance and spectator experience.
At the MHP Arena Stuttgart, 222 Altis G5 luminaires were installed as part of a refurbishment to meet UEFA Elite Level A and Bundesliga standards.
Susanne Straub, Lighting Consultant at Zumtobel Group, explains, “The project at Stuttgart Arena saw the installation of 222 Altis floodlights.
“The purpose was to improve lighting for match days whilst meeting the standards for UEFA Elite Level A.
“The Altis floodlights have improved energy efficiency, leading to better fan engagement and an overall increased satisfaction from players, staff, and visitors.”
Innovation in sports lighting
Thorn says the Altis G5 is designed to be adaptable for different types of sports venues and can be integrated with control and connectivity systems.
In 2025, the range was extended to support dynamic event lighting with ultra-high power RGBW capability.
