Exclusive distributor of Cat Power Solutions, Finning, has appointed Kelly Cole to the role of General Manager for Electric Power. Cole will be responsible for the go to market strategy for Electric Power, as well as for driving profitable and sustainable revenue growth in several business areas.

Cole started her career as an engineering apprentice for GE Aviation in 1997, before progressing through roles in customer service and operations into management. While at GE Aviation, Cole achieved a first-class degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wales, as well as an MBA from Cardiff University.

Early in her career, Cole developed a wealth of hands-on engineering and technical experience, including building and stripping engines and leading a manufacturing cell for printed circuit boards for flight power tiles and displays. Her next roles involved managing relationships with major airlines and growing GE Aviation’s service business in multiple markets.

Cole’s final role at GE Aviation was leading the technical field service team, working with engineers across leading airlines to manage the fleet in service, focused on the fleet stability and reliability. Some key achievements include growing the Africa services market share of narrow body engines from the region with the lowest exclusive coverage, to the highest, while driving services growth in Europe for the very mature engine market.

“I am inspired by Finning’s focus on people and the work it is doing to upskill and engage its team,” says Kelly Cole, General Manager for Electric Power at Finning UK & Ireland. “In my new role, I will build on the success of this talented team, as well as further develop the company’s customer centric approach, to help us partner with customers to build and power a better world.”

“2021 looks to be a bright year for the electric power industry,” explains Gary Megarrell, Director of Energy & Transportation at Finning UK & Ireland. “Kelly brings a wealth of experience that will bolster our team and help drive growth in key areas. Kelly’s skillset will be invaluable in supporting our customers with solutions for combined heat and power and standby packages for critical applications like data centres and healthcare, as well as during the launch of the new GC range of generators.”

Throughout her career, Cole has actively supported science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) outreach programmes and participated in charity work. She sat on GE Aviation’s Community Investment Board to develop STEM talent and is participating in an upcoming Finning charity bike ride, as well as a mud run for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Finning offers a range of services that enable it to provide a total power package, including project design and build, project management, operation and commissioning. Its technology offering includes Cat diesel and gas generators for standby, prime, combined heat and power (CHP) and biogas applications. Finning has over 25 years’ proven experience delivering bespoke packages and is able to tailor its equipment, managed services and maintenance packages to suit individual customers.
