Give your business a boost

For the busy electrical contractor who is faced with a shoestring budget and being out at work all day it can be a particularly testing task. But did you know there is a website available to all Part P registered businesses that will take the strain away?

Registered Competent Person Electrical is a single mark and register which aims to raise awareness of electrical safety in the home by simplifying the task of finding and checking a competent, registered electrician.

It was created by all Government-approved electrical Competent Person Scheme Operators in England and Wales. All business listed on the site are permitted to display the RCPE logo and are registered to undertake work on domestic electrical installations and self-certify that their work complies with the Building Regulations.

Since its launch in July 2014 the site has received more than 250,00 visits from homeowners looking to find a local electrician– making it the perfect tool for traders looking to promote their business – and all for free!

Emma Clancy, CEO of Certsure, which operates the NICEIC and ELECSA brands, commented: ‘For many businesses just starting out it can be difficult getting their name out there in front of potential clients.

‘The RCPE website does this and is the ideal place for registered electrical contractors to direct their customers.

‘Anyone choosing an electrical contractor listed on the site can also be assured that the company they use has been assessed to carry out the work safely and to the appropriate standards.’

NAPIT group chief executive Michael Andrews said: ‘RCPE provides a free listing for all competent registered electricians on a dedicated website that generates significant consumer traffic.

‘It’s a fantastic way to ensure your business can be found by a potential audience of thousands of prospective customers.

‘Whether you have limited marketing resources or you simply want to make sure you seize every opportunity to generate new business leads, it’s a great way for hard working electricians to gain more traction in their trade.’

More than 41,000 businesses are now listed on the site for all competent registered electricians in England and Wales. If you’re a full scope, competent registered electrical installer, your business should be automatically added to the website.
