Get ‘On Yer Bike’ to honour Hamilton’s 50th Anniversary

Hamilton Litestat want to honour its 50th anniversary in style this year; setting a monumental charity bike ride challenge from Teddington to Bristol. Taking place on 6-7 September, the event aims to raise funds for the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

But there is a great story behind this staggering 110-mile route. Starting at Teddington, where the company founder Rod Hamilton started the business half a century ago in 1968, the route concludes at Hamilton’s headquarters located in Brislington, Bristol opened in 2017.  Although looking to incorporate the journey to fit Mere, Wiltshire – where the company, as it became more established, moved and provided valuable employment opportunities – Gavin Williams, Hamilton’s marketing manager says, “We couldn’t make the route work and I’m sure the aching legs of everyone who joins us for the challenge will appreciate that decision come the end of the event!”

Commenting more on the event and the purpose it serves Gavin adds, “We wanted to do something that would celebrate this momentous occasion in Hamilton’s history, but also to give back to the Bristol community that is now home to our headquarters.

“As a family-run company, succeeding and celebrating 50 years in business as we continue to grow is something we’re very proud of and is testament to all the staff that have worked for Hamilton throughout the years.

Did you want to take part? Hamilton will be welcoming guests to join them on the charity bike ride and celebrate their 50th anniversary. The fund-raising cyclists will set off from Bushey Park in Teddington on Thursday 6 September and are due to ride into Brislington, Bristol, on Friday 7 September. Everyone at ECN would like to wish all those taking part in the event the best of luck.
