Docs-Store introduces the new Epson Label Printer

Historically, label creation has been a time-consuming and arduous task. In the old days, it involved a labeller, a pair of scissors, a whole load of wasted tape offcuts and no small amount of frustration to make labels fit distribution boards, sockets, switches, trunking, conduit and equipment. As technology developed, things became easier with semi-automated labellers sizing text to fit distribution boards, cables and pattress boxes. While these printing devices made life easier, they tended to demand multi-step button-pushing processes to achieve the desired result. So, while the user could create and print on-site for convenience, using earlier electronic labellers could still take time and effort compared to today’s portable label makers.

Cue the fourth generation of label printers for cable installers and maintenance engineers. Using an intuitive smartphone app with your labelling device, connected using seamless Bluetooth instead of fiddly Wi-fi protocols, allows you to create new labels quickly, store them and recall them for future editing and printing. Seeing a life-sized image of the label before printing eliminates extra tape waste and time spent making the label, and according to Docs-Store, making it easier and more convenient than the alternatives. Additional loss of tape, through excessive waste that is fed through at the start of print jobs or either side of the printed text, can also be a frustration that is minimised with Epson LabelWorks printers. Add to that nine metres of labels, that you get inside the cartridge, and the LK tape cassettes offer best in class for value for money, says Docs-Store.

As well as convenience, waste and cost saving, ease and speed of use, the Epson LW-Z710 electronic label maker has a small form factor that makes it mobile in the truest sense. Along with a ruggedised, rubber surround, that stays put on the most challenging surfaces, the printer’s design is well-thought-through for the on-site user.
