Storage heating has changed. ONYX brings High Heat Retention (HHR) performance, intelligent charging, and connected control together in a product designed to be easier for contractors to install, configure, and support.
At its core is independently tested heat-retention performance. Smart technology
ONYX is not simply about retaining more heat. Its Smart Charging technology calculates both how much energy needs to be stored for the following day and when charging should begin. Instead of charging as early as possible, ONYX can delay the start of the charging cycle so that the required stored energy level is reached at the appropriate time, helping reduce unnecessary standing heat losses.
For installers, however, one of the biggest differences is what happens on site. ONYX can save around 30 minutes per heater during installation compared with other leading HHR storage heaters. The unit arrives with its peak and off-peak cables already prewired, reducing preparation and connection time and making installation more straightforward.
That saving becomes even more significant on properties with multiple storage heaters. On a four-heater installation, that can mean around two hours saved on site. On larger refurbishment programmes or multi-property projects, the cumulative time saving can quickly become substantial, helping installers complete jobs faster, reduce labour time, and move onto the next installation sooner.
Configuring and maintaining is equally simple. WiFi Direct is built into the heater, meaning there is no separate hub, gateway, or additional communication hardware to install and maintain. ONYX connects directly to the property’s router and can then be managed through the free Rointe NEXA app.
Ease for installers and users
From NEXA, users can control temperatures and schedules, monitor consumption, and manage heating remotely. Meanwhile, the heater’s integrated TFT display provides clear information locally, including its current charge level.
That combination also makes handover easier. The installer does not have to introduce the customer to a separate control system or additional piece of hardware: the heater works locally from its own interface and remotely through the same Rointe ecosystem used across compatible connected heating products.
